Coroners’ reports linked to board papers

On paid plans, a coroner’s report now shows where its recipients’ public board papers mention it, with the page and a short extract.

  • Each link is checked by our team before it is shown. It says only that the report is mentioned in those papers.
  • The case bundle on the Journalist, Organisation and Enterprise plans lists the linked papers, with a citation for each.
  • On the Free plan a report shows how many times it is mentioned, with a link to the plans.

How coroners’ reports work

The API, for Enterprise

Enterprise organisations can search and read papers from their own programs with an API key, with rotation, limits and usage by key.

Read the API guide

Shared folders for teams

On the Organisation plan, make a folder everyone in your team can see and save to. Your notes stay private.

How organisation accounts work

Coroners’ reports, searchable and public

Prevention of Future Deaths reports that coroners have published on judiciary.uk are now in search, with a page for each report.

  • Search finds reports and the published responses to them, alongside board papers. Their text is shown in full, under the Open Government Licence.
  • Each report’s page shows who it was sent to and, for each, whether judiciary.uk has published a response and when the 56-day deadline falls.
  • We say only what judiciary.uk has published: a reply may have been sent and not yet published.
  • An organisation’s page lists the coroners’ reports sent to it.
  • Watched phrases also find new coroners’ reports.

How coroners’ reports work

The coroners’ reports explorer

Browse every coroner’s report we hold, filtered by year, coroner area, category, who it was sent to and what judiciary.uk has published in response.

  • A chart of reports by year, the most common categories, and the organisations most often sent reports.
  • Download the filtered list as a spreadsheet (CSV) or as citations for a reference manager.

Open the explorer

Latest reports and papers, with feeds

The Latest page lists the newest coroners’ reports and the board papers we collected most recently, each with an Atom feed for your feed reader.

Integrated care boards, regulators and integration joint boards

Integrated care boards, national NHS and HSC bodies, health regulators and Scotland’s integration joint boards are now in the list of organisations we cover.

  • We collect their papers in stages. The Coverage page and each organisation’s page say what we hold so far.
  • Search can be narrowed to each kind of organisation, under “Who published it”.

Organisations we cover

Local Healthwatch, kept as an archived record

All 152 local Healthwatch in England are in the list, and we keep their board papers and published reports as a record, as the Health Bill would abolish them.

Closing and closed organisations

Committee and council of governors’ papers

Papers from committees and councils of governors are now kept and labelled by the body that met, not only the board’s.

  • Filter search by meeting body: the board, committees or the council of governors.
  • Citations name the body, such as “Quality and Safety Committee minutes”.

Mentions over time

On Search, “Show mentions over time” charts how many documents we hold mention your words, by month, quarter or year.

  • Split it by nation, type of organisation, or board papers and coroners’ reports, and show it as counts or per 100 documents we hold.
  • See it as a table, or download the counts.
  • It counts documents we hold, so a rise can reflect our collection rather than what organisations discussed.

About mentions over time

Follow an organisation

Choose Follow on an organisation’s page to see its new board, committee and governors’ papers, and coroners’ reports sent to it, on your Alerts page. It’s free.

  • A private feed address for your feed reader, which you can replace or stop.
  • A daily or weekly email of what’s new.

How following works

Citations for researchers and lawyers

A Cite menu on every result, document and coroner’s report copies a citation in our house style, OSCOLA, Harvard or Vancouver, or downloads it for a reference manager.

  • RIS for EndNote, Zotero and Mendeley, BibTeX for LaTeX, and CSL-JSON.
  • Download citations for a whole folder, or the coroners’ reports explorer’s list.

About citations

When an original goes, an archived record stays

If a document is no longer on the organisation’s website, we say so, link to an archived copy where there is one, and let you read our unchanged copy as an archived record.

How archived records work

Why a year isn’t Complete

Each organisation’s page lists its board papers by year and, for each year that isn’t Complete, why not, in plain words about what we hold and have checked.

AI summaries and questions

In the reader, ask for a summary of a document or what it says about something. Answers use only the document’s text, cite their pages and are labelled AI-generated.

How AI actions work

Watched phrases

Watch a phrase everywhere, in one nation or at one organisation, and we email you when new papers mention it, with the passage and a link to the original.

How watched phrases work

Draft and approved minutes, compared

Draft minutes are labelled, checked again for an approved version, and, once we hold both, compared to show the passages that changed.

About drafts

Read a document at the right page

Open a result at the page it was found on, find other mentions in the document, and copy a ready-made citation with its source and the date we collected it.

How reading documents works

Folders and notes

Save passages and documents to folders, with a private note on each and a citation ready to copy.

Accounts and plans

Create a free account to open our copy of documents where the publisher allows it. The link to every original is always free.

  • Paid plans can be bought on the site.

Search NHS and HSC board papers

Search the public board papers of NHS and HSC organisations across the UK, every result linked to its original. Search also finds NHS terms that mean the same, and says when it has.

  • The Coverage page says exactly what we hold, so you know whether nothing was said or we haven’t collected the papers.
